Over her years of performing, Ashley Kate (25) has made the transition between opera, musical theatre, and the live music scene with a stunning ease that only she can possess. Ashley Kate is the lead singer of Buffalo, NY's #1 Dance Band, Studio 54 (www.myspace.com/studio54danceband) and performs weekly in Western New York. Songs that you can hear Ashley shine on are Respect, Lovin Touchin Squeezin, Lady Marmalade, I Will Survive, Walkin On Sunshine, Black Velvet, and many more that show off her extensive vocal range and dance moves. Looking at the theatre aspect of her life, Ashley Kate is currently playing the role of The Narrator in WNY's production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (tickets at www.lancopera.org). She has most recently been seen as Sharpay in the sold-out run of High School Musical. Other stage credits include Belle in Disney's Beauty and the Beast, Lois in Kiss Me Kate, Margy in State Fair, Cindy in Suds, Rizzo in Grease and Kim McAFee in Bye Bye Birdie. Ashley Kate studied with American Baritone Kent Smith, who encouraged her to follow her Italian roots and dive into the world of bel canto opera. Operatic and operetta roles include Atalanta in Xerse, Josephine in HMS Pinafore and scenes from Cosi Fan Tutti, Le Nozze di Figaro, Die Fledermaus and Die Zauberflote. Ashley Kate is currently attending grad school for Elementary Education, and is a pre-school music and movement teacher. She hopes to pass on her love of performing and music to the future generations of "broadway babies", "opera divas" and "rockstars" out there in the world today.
