Here is a collaborative cover between me and Tubagirl022 of Coldplay's classic, The Scientist. Unfortunately, YouTube unsynched the video and the audio, so there is a slight delay between them. My apologies for that. Aug 3, 2008 - Part 1 - I've had a dozen people who are familiar with the Coldplay original listen to your cover of "The Scientist" and all 12 expressed a strong opinion that your cover is easily better than the original. They were very impressed with the vocals and felt that you and TubaGirl022 did a fantastic job on the cover. Knowing your humble and modest nature, I am sure that you may have difficulty believing this and won't acknowledge this but it is the truth.

Aug 3, 2008 - Part 2 - As you well know, most individuals never believe a cover is ever better than the original. However, the many comments on this video by YouTubers and these 12 individual's opinions expressing that your cover is better than the original is a testament to your and TubaGirl022's talents.

Aug 3, 2008 - Some artists sculpture in wood or stone. Reina and Tubagirl sculpture in imagery and music. Most everything I produced in my life with my hands, or mind has been very transitional. If Reina or Tubagirl will ever be featured by YouTube is an unknown, but like a bronze sculpture in a park, their work will endure. Assuming the human mind, or our sight, or hearing isn't changed, there will be people chancing on this a couple hundred years from now and enjoying it immensely.

Aug 8, 2008 - I had to come back again for a listen to this tremendous performance. It is not surprising that anything Reina is connected with would produce such amazing results. This is significantly better than the original. Great job Reina and Tubagirl022!!!

Aug 10, 2008 - This song motivated me to finally get an MP3/WMA player made by Jensen. My old CD player had the heft of a ship anchor. So far things are looking up for making sense of the instructions. Page E4 of the User Manual reads. IMPORTANT: Make sure you can locate the following items before you unpack the unit. At number 5 in the check list -User Manual. Duh!

Aug 16, 2008 - Just listened to Natasha Bedingfield and Avril Lavigne's covers...wow...girls...you've got it all over them! I couldn't wait to get back and listen to yours to get their versions out of my head!

Aug 16, 2008 - By the way, Justin Sandercoe does a wonderful tutorial on how to play this song on the acoustic guitar!

Aug 16, 2008 - I just took a listen to both those artists 52071492 mentions and I agree that Reina and Tubagirl022 have a better song here. Natasha Bedingfield simply does too many vocal gymnastics, very much like doing acrobatic backflips at a square dance as her vocals don't fit the character of the song. Avril Lavigne does a better cover of this song than Natasha Bedingfield and doesn't turn it into a jazz song. The soothing harmonics of Tubagirl022 and Reina's singing are my favorites for this cover.

Aug 17, 2008 - This is awesome because it has kind of a music video feel with the cutting between scenes you should do a music video every once in a while.

Aug 20, 2008 - Hi, Reina!I have been so out of the loop. I could see your site but couldn't see or hear the videos. Something was wrong with media player. When I came back from vacation I finally got it fixed. It is so good to hear your voice again. You and the mysterious Tubagirl sound great on "The Scientist." The lyrics reaffirm what many of us learn the hard way: affairs of the heart are not always logical.

Aug 20, 2008 - very well done!! may I ask where you found the piano notes? greetings
ReinaDelCid Says:
Aug 20, 2008 - Nice to hear from you, protoville. I'm glad to hear that your player is fixed. I agree about the lyrics - they seem to strike that perfect balance between obscure and accessible, so that they leave us wondering about the nature of this relationship without turning us away in vexation at not being able to entirely dissect it.
