Nick: Wait, what? Kevin, what happened? Kevin: We broke up. Joe: How? Kevin: I don't know, Joe! *yelling* The way people usually break up! Nick: So you just said it was over? Kevin: No, I didn't. Ashlee did... Joe: Are you gonna get her back? Kevin: No, man. It's too hard. I never get to see her, anyway. Nick: You could fly to New Jersey tonight and you could... Kevin: You know what Nicholas? It's your fault I'm in this situation, so don't tell me what I should do. Joe: Hey, Kevin, that's a little harsh, don't you think? Kevin: No, I obviously don't think. If I did a little more thinking maybe I wouldn't have let us stay here in California. Maybe I would have told Nick 'no,' that we can't stay here, and that I wanted to go home and see the girl I want to marry. And maybe I wouldn't be standing here with a broken heart. Nick: I'm sorry, Kevin. I didn't realize... Kevin: No, you couldn't have. *Kevin goes up stairs to his room, before he starts to cry* Joe: I have to go call Elle. Nick: Alright, man. I'll see you later. *Nick notices that Frankie has been watching this conversation the whole time* Frankie: Is Kevin going to be okay? Nick: Yeah, he just has a broken heart right now. Frankie: Can a broken heart make you sick? Nick: I don't think so, little man. Frankie: Then what does it do? Nick: I think it just makes you realize who you really love in life. Frankie: How can you love if your heart is broken? Nick: I don't know... *Frankie looks at him as if he insists on an answer* Nick: I'll tell you what, *Nick gets on his knees, so he's at Frankie's level* I'll tell you how people love with a broken heart when I find the answer. *Joe calls Elle* Joe: Is Elle there? Elle's mom: I don't know if this is a great time to be calling her. Joe: Why? Is something wrong? Elle's mom: Uhmm.. Joe: Is Elle okay? Elle's mom: Here. She says she wants to talk to you. *Elle's mom hands Elle the phone* Elle: Joe, can you come over? Joe: Yeah, I can. Now? Elle: Yes. Joe: Are you crying? Elle, what's wrong? Elle: Rover just died.
