Recruiting within a company is the best way to help build retention. Managing employees at the base level is critical for recruits within a program similar to that instilled at UPS. Not only does it lower retention cost, but it also increases quality and creates a better-run organization. In order to improve productivity and employee performance, it was essential for UPS to find a school with the ability to design a program that functioned alongside their existing tuition reimbursement program. UPS's Pat Meyers knew school choice was an important determining factor when it came to employees working towards their degree, and looked for a school willing to work with the company's needs. Thomas Edison State College met the company's criteria and was capable of delivering the type of programs necessary to educate and retain UPS employees. The College listened to Meyer's needs, and helped to create a program for employees to quickly and efficiently earn their degree while driving employee performance and productivity.
