Punk Rock psychedelic spin on Break on Through to the Other Side, celebrating the dark circles of the inner mind. About this song: yes, it's the Break On Through riff and the song was written and recorded in the mid 1980's under the influence of psychedelics and good ol' fashioned Doors Music. To me, key to understanding the song you must understand the Universal Mind. Jim Morrison often referred to the Universal Mind, a Jungian term perhaps that says we're all linked by one cosmic collective unconscious. The Universal Mind existed before Jim and while he was alive Jim felt himself to be a Door to said mind, that he was an oracle, a mouthpiece. Jim emptied himself on LSD. He became a Door and we all love the way the Universal Mind animated Jim and expressed universal truths through our favorite, modern prophet/poet/shaman. Jim would invoke the universal mind through lsd, and as most of us know, a telling sign of someone on lsd, is large black dilated pupils; i.e. round, black eyes.
