This circuit is a prototype of a simple LED chaser circuit (like the lights from night rider). When set up, this circuit will drive 6 LED's in a chaser motion. This simple circuit uses only two IC's, a 555 timer and a 4017 decade counter. The circuit is split into two portions, timing and output. The timing section is powered by the 555, and sends a pulse to the clock pin of the decade counter. A variable resistor controls the flash rate. Each time the decade counter gets a pulse from the 555 timer, it lights up the next LED in the sequence. The sequence is not in order, which is why the LED's appear to light up in a random order.
