Sep 18, 2008 - It's quite clear Earl is lying. I genuinly believe he feels bad about the situation but he is simply a coward

MegaManZeroV1 Says:

Sep 20, 2008 - I don't think Bret was going to take the belt to WCW and Earl knows it. I think Bret just didn't want to drop it that night because of the shit HBK pulled earlier that year not to have their Wrestlemania rematch. There's no way he would embarass the WWF. Bret even said on that Shadows documentary that he was gonna forfeit the belt the next night on RAW and make a speech leaving on good terms.

MegaManZeroV1 Says:

Sep 20, 2008 - What about Vince? If Vince had thoughts in his mind that Bret would pull some shit, then he never trusted the Hitman in first place. That also means that Vince should've made Bret drop the title a lot earlier.

tigerhart Says:

Sep 22, 2008 - Anybody that thinks Bret would have taken the belt to WCW or do anything to embarrass the WWF or hurt the WWF you are being delusional. Bret's brother still worked for WWF, 2 brother in laws working there, and a bunch of close friends still working there. Do you think he would take the chance of putting the final nail in the coffin for the WWF and hurt or possibly put those guys out of work by doing something like that? I dont thinks so.

megaman2160 Says:

Sep 24, 2008 - i doubt if bret would of did the samething alundra blaze did. i think hebner just assumed thats what bret was going to do

moatazm Says:

Sep 25, 2008 - bret is not a kind of guy to leave the wwe with the belt he never do that he wrestled in wwe for 14 years.he was a loyal and he didnt want to leave but vince mcmahon forced him to leave wwe

ecstyles411 Says:

Sep 27, 2008 - Lol@2:01 "I was down stairs, I had the car ready to go". What a bunch of pussys!! Scared Bret would kick their asses. My philosophy is if U man enough to screw someone in a devious way.. U should be man enough to handle the consequence afterwards, and get yo ass KICKED!!

walrustusk70 Says:

Sep 27, 2008 - yes if it meant him gettin one over vince

walrustusk70 Says:

Sep 27, 2008 - Its amazing how many people side with Bret in this.Yes i feel for him but by the same token i see why Vince did it. Bret shouldve dropped the belt.Ok he hated Shawn but who else couldve had the title at the time?Vince just couldnt give it to anyone. Why is Bret so special that he deserves special treatment? It should only ever be vacated because of injury to the champion or a dodgy moment like 1988 when Andre gave the belt to Ted DiBiase.U swallow ur pride and leave.

BYSONG Says:

Sep 29, 2008 - bret screwed bret. vince was looking for the best interest of his company no he would let anyone take the wwf title to wcw.

tow74 Says:

Oct 1, 2008 - Still isn't worse than than Greensboro screwjob.

nyn984 Says:

Oct 3, 2008 - bottom line, u HAVE to leave losing. kevin nash, scott hall, even ric flair when he retired, LOST their last match. now bret not only didnt wanna lose the match, he didnt wanna lose the belt. didn't wanna lose in canada cause he thought he was a canadian "hero". he's not special, he's definitely NOT the best there is, best blah blah blah. he was one of the worst talkers(promos), and his in-ring ability was boring and repetitive. bret didnt care about the company, or any of the guys but himself

tigerhart Says:

Oct 9, 2008 - Bret still had a 3 weeks left on his contract so who's to say that would have been his last match? He never stated that he wouldnt drop the belt he just didnt want to drop it that night. All those guys mentioned did lose but they lost on their own terms they werent told who they had to lose to and when they had to lose unlike Bret. Despite it being in Bret's contract that he had creative control he still didnt get to lose on his own terms. The fact is he was lied to and screwed.

mickcoogan Says:

Oct 10, 2008 - This prick is trying to justify lying to a guy, by swearing on his kids he wouldnt screw Bret to Brets face Bret would never have turned up on Nitro with the title, he was willing to drop title to anyone in the company, just not in Canada!

geldofpunk Says:

Oct 12, 2008 - He didn't want to drop the belt to Shawn. That's it. If it was Taker or someone he liked, he would have dropped it.

mickcoogan Says:

Oct 12, 2008 - Shawn refused to drop the belt to Bret earlier in that year out of his own selfish reasons fabricating a knee injury, thus screwing up that whole years planned pay per view main events, so for Bret to use his creative control and refuse to lose the belt in Canada wasnt that big of a deal, Bret was willing to drop the belt+he his contract wasnt up till end of November which Vince, shawn n this piece of shit Hebner seem to forget

tblud1 Says:

Oct 12, 2008 - How is there actually people trying to legitimize this? There obviously is way too many 12 year old boy hbk fans. What Vince did was wrong, most wrestlers would tell you the same. People are actually trying to say Bret screwed Bret and Vince is the boss he should have lisened etc. Well under the same logic, fact is Bret had creative control in the last 30 days of his contract. Going against that is no different than saying hey were only giving you 30 dollars for your match, not 50 grand.

tblud1 Says:

Oct 12, 2008 - Breach of contract. And for the record the original plan was to have Bret win the rematch after putting over Shawn in the amazing match they had. But after he put him over Shawn said he would never lose the title to Bret and if you do that to someone who puts you over let alone a legend, thats just complete disrespect. So Bret played the same game. Can't blame him, Shawn had nose up Vinces ass, not Bret. Many other wrestlers will tell you once Shawn got the title he changed.

tblud1 Says:

Oct 12, 2008 - And then theres all this bullshit with Bret Hart's gonna take the title to WCW. That's not fact, its all speculation. The titles are property of WWF it isnt real and this isnt the NWA days. After the what Madusa pulled there not gonna let Bret leave WWF with the title, they're obviously gonna take it back. If you think they couldn't do that after they planned all this your an idiot.

tblud1 Says:

Oct 12, 2008 - I respect Bret because hes real, Shawn runs aorund calling himself a christian to the point it's ridiculous and some people actually believe him yet he lies in the name of god to Bret and theres actually footage of this. Thats just pussy. I cant respect guys who screw over others behind their back to get to the top. Briscoe was helping him with the submissions the night before if Bret tried to counter. Hunter knew also but he didnt have the balls to fess up to a women. Earl lied on his own kids

cadetcapt Says:

Oct 13, 2008 - No bret did not want to lose in Canada. His contract was up with wwe that Monday and he had signed his contract with WCW. Vice did not want him going to WCW as the WWF champ. Vice told HBK AND HHH that he would take the fall and for them to act like he know nothing of it. Bret if a cry baby. as a wrestler it should not matter where you lose just work you match and do what to boss wants

jake1823 Says:

Oct 15, 2008 - But Bret didn't have anything against Vince back then. There was no reason for him to want to get one over Vince.

LAKSDJFLASKJF Says:

Oct 15, 2008 - CADETCAPT...SHUT THE FUCK UP...shawn michaels MADE A FUCKEN CAREER out of holding down talent..A FUCKEN CAREER. him TRIPLE H HOGAN NASH and to a lesser extent yes even bret aswell..but for you to shit on bret and say to do what the boss wants is down right LAUGHABLE..

measuringstick Says:

Oct 15, 2008 - spin it how you want you still had a part in screwing bret. he was with wwe for years and he wanted to stay he turned down wcws first offer because he wanted to stay then vince changed his mind and told him he wasnt gonna keep him on because his contract was too much. news flash vince if you want the best you have to pay for it. he wanted to stay with wwe so why would he screw them by taking the belt to wcw he just didnt want to lose it in canada youd think wwe would of done that much for him

beachball8088 Says:

Oct 15, 2008 - I recently read Bret Hart's new book. It backs up what you just said. Also it probably wouldn't have mattered if Brisco showed Shawn some submission holds cause according to Bret, Brisco himself backed away from Bret after he knocked out Vince all while Shawn was crying like a baby in the corner.
