http://www.fatlosslifestyle.com The "Bench Press is the ultimate chest exercise. It is an awesome functional, athletic movement for you athletes. Remember, you will work the target muscle better by looking at it and going slow (a 3-1-3 tempo). I started doing these types of movements back in 1983. Basic, compound, power-movements for football. We were taught the big 3, squats, dead lift's, and hang-clean's. The "Bench Press" Exercise is a vital part of shocking your chest into new growth. This movement really allowed me to take my physique to a professional "drug free for life bodybuilder at the age of 43 years old; & I am in the best shape of my life. I know you can do it too. All the time it takes is 4-5 hours per week, with a well thought out plan. Remember, to keep your feet, buns, & shoulder blades in contact with the floor and the bench at all times. Keep the chest open and blades closed with the lower back about 3-5 inches off the bench. A slow 3-1-3 Tempo & make sure to squeeze the fists together going down (this is an advanced tech & you may have to go lighter than you are used too) & coming up. 3 Sets, getting to failure safely at 12 reps (1st set), 10 reps (2nd set), 6-8 reps (3rd set). You can work-out till your blue in the face but if you do not incorporate Interval Cardio (done first thing in the morning in a fasted state), intense functional multi-joint, compound exercises, small healthy meals often with protein and carbs combined together, positive mindset, goal setting & social support (you will turn into who you hang around) you will not change your body much. Physique development is about losing fat (to show the shape of the muscle) as much if not more than building muscle. It is definitely a combination of the two. But if you do focus on the 5 pillars of fitness & health, you will radically change your waistline, your lifestyle, and your life. ArnoldisMyNigga Says:
Sep 14, 2008 - no you will never hit your max without holding your breath. everyone holds their breath just depends how many reps you are doing. every powerlifter and bodybuilder uses this technique it helps to build muscle. i hold my breath when i do 4 or less reps with heavy weight.
ArnoldisMyNigga Says:
Sep 14, 2008 - brndcraven is right howertony probably doesnt even lift weights.
ArnoldisMyNigga Says:
Sep 14, 2008 - i believe you should do all rep ranges to gain the most strength 1-3 4-6 8-12 and above that 2. just make sure you do all of them. dedicate each workout fo x amount of reps. Variety is key.

Sep 14, 2008 - oeehhh, aahhhh.....???? Dude, forgot the most important question: Do you bench press for STRENGHT or for MASS of the pecs? IF you want maa, do dumbell and incline presses. If you want to lift as much as possible, use the technique shown here. But when you want to lift as much as possible, I suggest a more explosive style; lower the bar fast but controlled and explode on the way up.

Koldztone Says:
Oct 3, 2008 - The funny part of this video is the "3-1-3" tempo...if you get a stopwatch, he spends 1 second and 2/3rds going down, average, and about 1 second to lift, so it's bullshit.... Always lift by exerting the maximal contraction you can, get as much tension as possible, for a smuch as you can endure it, and lower by slowing down enough to keep the tension level close to maximal for a smuch as you can endure it.
Koldztone Says:
Oct 3, 2008 - If you don't feel like it, then lift with the hardest contraction you can, trying to lift as fast as possible, and lower in as little time as you need to get that tension level, so if you can lower in 2 seconds and also in 3 to get maximal tension, go for the 2 seconds and save up energy for more reps or more weight.
