Thanks to Drumprovise (http://fr.youtube.com/Drumprovise) J'ai découvert cet incroyable batteur à "Jazz à Vienne 2008" alors qu'il accompagnait le band de Donald Brown et Bill Mobley, en première partie de la reformation du Return To Forever. Sa prestation fut tant remarquée qu'il faut bien reconnaître que Lenny White fit ensuite pâle figure... Si j'osais, je baptiserais bien Billy Kilson le « batteur dansant » tant il fait corps avec la musique, avec le rythme, avant de l'exprimer avec son instrument. Surprenant de bout en bout, totalement imprévisible, ses cassures rythmiques, sa puissance et ses capacités de nuance sont époustouflantes. Bien entendu, il a joué (et jouera) avec les plus grands jazzmen ! http://www.billykilson.com/ http://www.myspace.com/billykilson I heard and saw Billy Kilson for the first time at the « Jazz à Vienne 2008 Festival » as he was playing drums with Donald Brown and Bill Mobley band, just before the Return To Forever live prestation. His set was so appreciated that I have to declare that the great Lenny White was just a little bit « pale » after him... If I'd dare, I'd would call him « the dancing drummer », being so close to his music, to the rythm, before formulating that with his instrument. Totally surprising, actually stagering and unpredictable, his rythm breaks, his power and his capacities of nuances are amazing.
