fdeen71 Says:

Apr 23, 2008 - It's a Mack Titan like it says in the title and description - not a Trident, they don't come with an E9.

phonemagician Says:

Apr 23, 2008 - sorry i typed it wrong nice looking titan

Winchester222 Says:

Apr 25, 2008 - If it's a Titan, how come it has the Superliner bonnet scoop on the side?

fdeen71 Says:

Apr 25, 2008 - Because it looks good

fdeen71 Says:

May 13, 2008 - She's got a full load.

karlssonm Says:

May 13, 2008 - and thats about 50ton? it sounds very nice like a scania v8

fdeen71 Says:

May 13, 2008 - Scania based their V8 block on the Mack V8 so a Scania V8 tries to sound like a Mack V8 - the original.

karlssonm Says:

May 13, 2008 - scania v8 came 1969(350hp) pulling 50ton they usally lasted fore 1200000km many lasted longer wich year did the mack came with v8?

fdeen71 Says:

May 13, 2008 - The E9 was developed in the 70's, that is the block Scania based their V8 on. Mack had trucks in the 60's with the Mack 864 or 866 V8engines with up to 375hp. They were pulling 120 tonne and are still going today. The B model Macks also were available with Mack V8 engines developed in the 50's. They can still be seen pulling road trains or heavy hauls.

karlssonm Says:

May 13, 2008 - there is a bit of trouth in this in the fiftys scania made a copy of a mack buss and they hade som cooperation in enginemanufacturing like noweadays scania and cummins share the same fuelinjection

fdeen71 Says:

May 13, 2008 - Yes, Mack and Scania did share Bus technology as well, particularly in chassis design.

karlssonm Says:

May 13, 2008 - so does the mack v8 has inviduel cylinderheads as scania has?

lordtaw Says:

May 15, 2008 - No. It has 4 heads, each covering 2 cylinders. I like how Scania kept the V8 after all these years. Mack Australia had those E9's up to 610 HP and 2779NM (2050ft/lbs) of torque around 1999-2000! If Volvo didn't buy Mack/Renault we would still see the V8 today. Now we have the D12/13/16 in our Macks :-(. Nothing against Volvo but what ever brand they buy, they destroy or Volvo-ize it until it bears no resemblance to the original. Just look at Autocar.

lordtaw Says:

May 15, 2008 - State side the older V8 parts are getting as scarce as hens teeth. If you buy a truck with an 864 V8 you better baby it and keep it for show. 865/866 parts are hard to find and expensive. The E9 parts are expensive but you can still gets parts pretty easy.

gm16v149 Says:

May 16, 2008 - There's still a lot of E9 V8s getting around in Australia, but when Mack blew them out to 610 over here some of them did have reliability problems. A mate of mine has a '80s Superliner re-powered with a 610 block set to 500 HP and it runs just fine. You're right about Volvo buying Mack, they've just introduced the Titan in the US (which we've had for years) and it's got the 16 liter Volvo engine except they call it a Mack MP8. Somehow I don't think it will sound quite as ballsy as a Mack V8.

shaned8845 Says:

May 16, 2008 - another reason mack and scania sound similar is that they have the same firing order, which is why the V8 mercedes sound so different
