Jul 26, 2008 - Thanks! The computer is actually acting as a terminal logged into the audio computer in another room which is a 1996 Gateway 2000 and this actually is playing digital files (.ogg files). I have recorded 78 RPM records either directly to the computer or at the West building on reel to reel...these mono .wav files are then converted to .ogg files for playback to save space (I can't tell the difference).

Jul 26, 2008 - Wow! I love the color, great job! And the equipment in the room... very, very nice. Funny how we both have that fan as our bedroom fans (mine is just the 3 speed version, that's the only difference). Love the roundie.

Jul 30, 2008 - What do you use to switch terminals like that? I use GNU Screen on my Debian server. Though I prefer windows, debian is a nice alternative. Haven't tried slackware though.

Aug 4, 2008 - Wow, you have some cool stuff, what kind of amp, or pa system do you have hooked up to your home music system. Also did you make the software that plays the music?
retrochad Says:
Aug 4, 2008 - Thanks for your comments...The amp is a 35 watt Precision Electronics solid state PA amp...you can see the amp setup in another video I have but I can't remember the title. I did not make the software though...it is called cmus, it is a command line music player for linux.

Aug 4, 2008 - I'm just using Alt-F1 through F6 to switch the virtual terminals. I like Slackware for use on old computers as it is easy to configure for text-only use on computers with low ram and small hard drives.
