Ahi is recovering well from her most recent surgery. She is in the final weeks of her 2nd month of recovery from her third surgery. This means she will soon be able to be off leash and will no longer have to be isolated from play. :o) This is a clip of her visiting the pack.

Jul 26, 2008 - No worries - we have a lot of dogs, its hard to keep up with. :o) Yes, Ahi is a Shikoku-Ken, she is almost 2 years old. She had to have surgery to correct her luxating patella in both knees. I believe Ahi is the first documented case of luxating patella in Shikoku-Ken in North America. It's very sad - but she will be fine!

Jul 27, 2008 - your akita is the cutest, hes a pure japanese akita right?? because he seems to be lacking the mask that American akitas have.
BradA1878 Says:
Jul 27, 2008 - Yes, all of our Akita are from non-American lines, imported from Europe. The "American style" Akita is just as Japanese as the non-American type but descended from a different lineage from Japan [the mastiff lineage].

Jul 27, 2008 - Thanx buddy! Now that Ahi is getting better maybe I can get you that footage you requested! As we move into colder weather they will spend more time inside so I think I will be able to make it happen. Thanx!
